Detailing In Brooklyn
The Work In Brooklyn
Brooklyn pairs busy commercial corridors with quiet residential blocks, from Williamsburg and Park Slope to Bay Ridge and Sheepshead Bay. Because so much of Brooklyn parks on the street, cars take a beating from city grime, brake dust, and the elements — which means steady demand for exterior details, paint correction, and protective coatings.
The borough's dense residential neighborhoods and its many small businesses generate consistent work across interior resets, full details, and fleet vehicles. A detailer comfortable working curbside and in tight driveways will do well here.
What You Need
For Detailers Who Already Own Their Equipment
- Proven hands-on experience detailing cars — you already know how to safely wash, decontaminate, polish, steam-clean, and protect a vehicle inside and out.
- You own your own professional detailing equipment: foam cannon and pressure setup, polisher, steam cleaner or extractor, vacuums, pads, and quality chemicals.
- A reliable vehicle to carry your equipment to job sites, and the ability to be fully self-contained (your own water and power) when a site requires it.
- A valid New York State driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Knowledge of paint-safe technique — proper wash method, swirl-free polishing, and safe ceramic/sealant application.
- Reliable, professional, and courteous with customers; you treat every car like it's your own.
- As a 1099 contractor: your own insurance and responsibility for your own taxes.
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
